Anna Maria Chávez, Chief Executive Officer of Girl Scouts of the USA, is the first Latina to serve in that role. A lifetime member of Girl Scouts and an award-winning community leader, Ms. Chávez grew up as a Girl Scout in Eloy, Arizona. Ms. Chávez earned her B.A. at Yale University and holds a J.D. from the James E. Rogers College of Law at the University of Arizona. She is admitted to the Bar for the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona, the Arizona Supreme Court, and U.S. Supreme Court. Ms. Chávez held numerous posts in President Clinton's administration, and later returned to Arizona as Deputy Chief of Staff for Urban Relations and Community Development under then-Governor Janet Napolitano. During her time in state service, Ms. Chavez provided oversight for programs targeting food distribution for the hungry, shelter and supportive services for victims of domestic violence, refugee resettlement services, and shelter services for the homeless. Additionally, she oversaw Arizona’s adult services programs, including adult protective services. Ms. Chávez has been recognized as one of the 100 Women Leaders in STEM by STEM connector. In 2014, she was named number 22 by Fast Company on their annual list of the most creative people in business. In addition, the Arizona National Guard presented Ms. Chávez with the Adjutant General's Medal and the Diversity Champion Leadership Award.
The Honorable Wilda Diaz is serving a second four-year term as Mayor of the City of Perth Amboy, the first female to hold that office, and currently the only elected Latina mayor in the State of New Jersey. Mayor Diaz has been at the forefront of issues such as expanding programs for our children, youth and families with the use of limited resources, creating an open and honest government, business expansion, job creation and preserving and restoring the City’s history. Mayor Diaz has worked to stabilize the City of Perth Amboy’s financial condition as she combats $250 million of inherited debt. Her administration established a Capital Improvement Program and other cost reducing strategies, which saved the community from near bankruptcy. Mayor Diaz’s aggressive business outreach and promotion of business advocacy has welcomed major corporations to Perth Amboy, with more than $600 million of investment in the City. Mayor Diaz is also the first woman elected President and Chair of the New Jersey Urban Mayors Association (NJUMA). She currently serves as the Chairwoman for the Perth Amboy Redevelopment Agency (PARA). Additionally, she served as a member of the Perth Amboy Merchants Association (PAMA) and was named by El Diario La Prensa as “Mujeres Destacadas 2012”. Mayor Diaz is a lifelong resident of Perth Amboy and a graduate of Perth Amboy High School.
Julissa Reynoso, former United States Ambassador to Uruguay, is a partner at the firm of Chadbourne & Parke LLP. Ms. Reynoso also served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Central American, Caribbean and Cuban Affairs in the US Department of State. Prior to joining the US Department of State, Ms. Reynoso practiced at a major international law firm, where she specialized in antitrust law, international commercial arbitration and international investment arbitration. Ms. Reynoso has extensive policy and legal experience throughout Latin America, engaging both as a lawyer in private practice and as a senior US diplomat on behalf of the US government. Her legal experience includes analyzing and advising on complex cross-border transactions and conducting complex arbitrations under the major international rules, including ICC and UNCITRAL, and bilateral investment treaty disputes under the Dominican Republic-Central America Free Trade Agreement (DR-CAFTA). Ms. Reynoso earned her J.D. at Columbia University, School of Law, her Masters at Cambridge University and her undergraduate degree at Harvard University.
Anilu Vazquez-Ubarri is the Managing Director, Chief Diversity Officer & Global Co-Head of Talent Development for Goldman Sachs & Company. Previously, she served as the Head of Diversity for the Americas and as Global Chief of Staff for Human Capital Management (HCM). Ms. Vazquez-Ubarri joined Goldman Sachs in 2007 as an Employee Relations advisor, providing advice to the Services, Finance, Operations, Investment Management and Investment Banking divisions. She is the HCM senior sponsor for the Returnship Program. From 2009 to 2011, Ms. Vazquez-Ubarri served as co-head of the Black and Hispanic/Latino Network in HCM. She was named Managing Director in 2013. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Vazquez-Ubarri worked at Shearman & Sterling LLP as an attorney in the Executive Compensation and Employee Benefits group. While at Shearman & Sterling, she was a founder of the firm’s women’s network, WISER, and served on the firm’s diversity committee. Ms. Vazquez-Ubarri earned a JD from Fordham University School of Law in 2002 and an AB, cum laude, in History and Latin American Studies from Princeton University in 1998.
