LJ Board Member Fernando Bohorquez Named One of MillerCoors’ Líderes of the Year
LatinoJustice PRLDEF board member Fernando A. Bohorquez, Jr. has been recognized as one of 12 Hispanic leaders who are helping to advance Latino communities across the country. One leader will be chosen as the MillerCoors Lider of the Year and receive a $25,000 grant for a community leadership project.
MillerCoors recently announced that Fernando, a Partner at Baker & Hostetler, is one of the 2010 MillerCoors Lideres of the Year finalists. Fernando has been on the board of LatinoJustice PRLDEF for almost 2 years where he continues to promote the rights of Latinos and other minority groups as well as build the pipeline for the next generation of Hispanic community leaders and lawyers.
Vote for Fernando as your MillerCoors Lider and the company will donate the $25,000 to underwrite the Latino LawBound Students Institute Program at LatinoJustice PRLDEF, for ten high-performing Latino students with an interest in a law career.
Fernando serves in various leadership positions in the NY State Bar Association, the NY Chapters of the Hispanic Bar Association, and the American Constitution Society. He is a Council of Urban Professionals fellow and a Board member of the Limon Dance Foundation. He has represented immigrants pro-bono through the NY City Bar and organized Spanish-speaking attorneys to volunteer for Latino voter protection efforts nationwide. Fernando is on Baker Hostetler's Diversity Committee and spearheaded the NY office’s mentor committee and minority summer internship program.
He dedicates hours to mentoring Latino law students, including those from his alma mater, New York Law School, where he was honored for his contributions to the Latino legal community.
