LatinoJustice Remembers Rico Piccard

Rico Piccard, a well-known activist in the Puerto Rican and Latino community of Orlando, Florida, passed away this morning. A member of numerous community groups, including Frente 436 which he co-founded, Rico was a mainstay in multiple battles over voting rights, arm in arm with LatinoJustice PRLDEF.

"Rico's smile, passion and knowledge of street smarts will always be the image I have of him," said Juan Cartagena, President and General Counsel, LatinoJustice.PRLDEF. “His legacy will live on in the hearts and souls of Orlando people"

Rico was a well-loved member of the Orlando political and social scene for many years. Hundreds of friends and admirers flogged to facebook to honor his legacy.

Friends called him, “courageous,” benevolent” and “effective.”
