David Arroyo

David Arroyo is vice president of legal affairs at Scripps Networks Interactive, where he manages litigation, intellectual property disputes, employment, bankruptcy, and regulatory matters involving the company’s cable television and broadband media businesses. Scripps owns Food Network, Travel Channel, HGTV, Cooking Channel, DIY Network, and Great American Country Network, as well as numerous website properties. Prior to 2008, the company also owned 15 newspapers, 10 television broadcast stations, and a licensing and syndication business.

Before joining Scripps, David practiced as a trial lawyer at a global law firm, and early in his career he clerked for James G. Carr, United States District Judge for the Northern District of Ohio. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School, Duke University and Stuyvesant High School. While at the Law School, he served as an Associate and Contributing Editor of the Michigan Law Review and was a Juan Luis Tienda scholar.

David is chairman of the board of LatinoJustice, formerly known as the Puerto Rican Legal Defense and Education Fund, a 40 year old civil rights and education organization. He previously served on the boards of the City Bar Justice Center (director), the Hispanic National Bar Association (national vice president), the Williamsburg Collegiate Charter School (trustee), and the Association of Corporate Counsel, New York Chapter (director).

In 2010, David served on the transition team of New York Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman. He currently serves by appointment on New York Senator Charles E. Schumer’s judicial screening panel, New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg’s committee on City marshals, and the disciplinary panel of the New York Appellate Division, First Department.

David lives in Brooklyn, New York with his wife and two children.
