Ricardo E. Oquendo has over 25 years experience as a corporate transactional and business litigation attorney with a special focus on commercial and real estate litigation, commercial and real estate transactions, commercial landlord/tenant matters (leases and litigation), special needs/affordable housing development/tax credit financing, commercial business finance and lending, business contracts, entertainment and intellectual property licensing, hospitality, employment law, nonprofit/tax exempt organizations and government relations.
Mr. Oquendo is currently a member of the New York State Supreme Court Appellate Division, First Department, Departmental Disciplinary Committee (2015-2017). In 2011, Mr. Oquendo also served as a member of the National Latino Advisory Council for Obama for America, President Barack Obama’s National Re-Election Campaign. Mr. Oquendo is a Regent Emeritus having served as a Member of the New York State Board of Regents from 1998-2003. During his tenure on the Board of Regents Mr. Oquendo served as Chairperson of the Professional Practice Committee and was a member of the Elementary, Middle, Secondary and Continuing Education Committee, the Cultural Education Committee and the Committee on Policy Integration and Innovation.
Throughout his professional career Mr. Oquendo has always been socially and civically engaged and he has served on the Board of Directors or Board of Trustees of many organizations such as, The Puerto Rican Family Institute; ASPIRA of New York; LAByrinth Theater Company; Trevor Day School (daughters’ school); Early Steps, Inc.; Bronx Legal Services and the Lehman College Paralegal Studies Advisory Board.
Mr. Oquendo is currently Vice President of the Puerto Rican Bar Association and is an active member of the New York City Bar Association and the Hispanic National Bar Association.
