Fellowship Sponsorship Opportunities with LatinoJustice PRLDEF


LatinoJustice PRLDEF is seeking to sponsor a rising 3L or recent law school graduate who will be clerking in 2012-13 for Skadden and Equal Justice Works fellowships. Applications for 2013-2014 Fellowship Opportunities must be submitted to LatinoJustice by no later than July 25th, 2013.

LatinoJustice primarily focuses on law reform impact litigation, partnering with prominent pro bono law firms, and other public interest civil rights organizations. Legal Fellows through their fellowship project will have the opportunity to engage in client outreach through legal clinics and know your rights workshops, case investigation, discovery, negotiations, trial practice, writing amicus briefs, and appeals. Non-litigation activities typically include legal services in collaboration with out community based organizational partners, legislative and public policy advocacy, and public education on important civil rights matter.

Skadden and Equal Justice Works Fellowships

Applicants for the two-year Skadden Fellowship and EJW Fellowship should consult those programs for more details about their respective fellowship eligibility requirements, previous successful fellowship proposals, selection process, and respective application deadlines.

Qualifications

Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to equal justice and equal opportunity for all. Applicants should be dedicated to the deployment of innovative and cutting-edge strategies (including non-litigation strategies) in addressing entrenched racial and national origin discrimination matters. Applicants for the 2013-2014 Fellowships must graduate from law school by June 2013, or have graduated in 2011-2012 and are currently clerking in 2012-13.

Applicants should have bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish

Preference will be given to applicants who can demonstrate involvement in scholarship, activities or employment which promote racial, national origin, gender, and economic justice on behalf of Latino communities. Project proposals focusing on the Southeastern United States are welcome.
